I visited my hair stylist one weekend. Before she started styling my hair, I told her that I will take a 15 minutes break to deliver a product to my customer whose address was very close to her shop. I told her I had an online store where I sold laptop backpacks and that I get my customers by advertising on Facebook and Google. I get customers from different parts of the world. I only delivered products to customers whose address was close to me and my supplier delivers to customers in all other locations without me touching or seeing the merchandise.

I promised to show her how to start her online store and other ways she could sell most of the hair products she had piling up in her store which she was finding difficult to sell. So, this article is a simple step by step guide on how to start selling your own products online.

If you have physical products you make such as clothes, pieces of jewelry, customized footwear, hair products like wigs and extensions, customized home decors or any product you personally design, then creating an online store is a great way to get your products to a larger customer base.

Even if you don’t have your own products, you can source for products from wholesalers who are ready to sell one piece at a time. You don’t need to buy in bulk or stock up products to sell. For you to sell your product online, you need a store or a website where your customers will visit and order your product. Shopify is by far the best platform to use for selling your products online. I started using Shopify to sell different products since 2014. 2. At this point, you should have chosen the type of product you want to sell. If you haven’t found a product yet, click here to use OBERLO to find trending products that people are buying in large quantities and also find verifiable suppliers for any kind of product you want to sell. Add OBERLO to your store as a plugin to see different retail prices for the same product from various suppliers and also allows you to see the potential profit you could make when you sell those products. Once you have an order, Oberlo fulfills the order for you. It is seamlessly synchronized with your store. With Oberlo, you don’t have to worry about how to get the product images and description to your store, it automatically copies that over. All you need to do is to make a few corrections and select the categories or product type you want to sell.

It is advisable to go for products with higher prices so that the profit margin will be worth the effort. Selling products that can only make you $2 to $5 profit isn’t worth the effort because you have to sell a lot of these cheap products in order to break even.

Selling products with profits not less than $70 is an ideal product to succeed in your online store business.

You can also link your Shopify store to Amazon. You create a store on Amazon when customers place an order on your Amazon store, you fulfill the order through your Shopify store. Neat!. The good part of selling on Amazon is that you have access to millions of buyers worldwide to grow your business.
